“I KNOW IT SOUNDS LIKE AN EXAGGERATION BUT THE FIGHT CLASS HAS REALLY CHANGED MY LIFE. EVERY SINGLE CLASS, EVERY AFTER CLASS CONVERSATION… IT’S ALL PART OF BEING AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS AND COMING UP WITH A PLAN IN EACH SITUATION. WE NEVER KNOW WHEN WE ARE GOING TO BE A VICTIM BUT I KNOW NOW THAT I HAVE TOOLS IN MY TOOLBOX. FOR EXAMPLE: WHEN WE LEARN WHAT TO DO WHEN SOMEONE IS CHOKING US, I JUST WANT TO GO SHOUT IT TO EVERYONE I KNOW. I THINK ABOUT ALL THE PEOPLE OUT THERE WHO HAVE BEEN CHOKED AND KIDNAPPED AND THAT THEY WOULD MAYBE STILL BE HERE IF THEY HAD THESE TOOLS IN THEIR TOOLBOX. THEY’RE TOOLS THAT ANYONE CAN LEARN. THE REALITY BASED TRAINING IS SO GREAT BECAUSE YOU REALLY BREAKDOWN WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IN REAL LIFE, HOW TO REACT IN SITUATIONS THAT YOU WOULD NORMALLY THINK “I HAVE NO OPTIONS IN THIS SITUATION, IT’S OVER”. IT’S INVALUABLE KNOWLEDGE IN A VERY CARING ENVIRONMENT RUN BY TWO AMAZING INSTRUCTORS (HUSBAND AND WIFE TEAM) WHO GIVE YOU THE MALE AND FEMALE PERSPECTIVE, AND IT’S SERIOUSLY FUN, TOO! ALMOST AS MUCH AS THE CLASS, I REALLY ENJOY THE MANY IMPROMPTU AFTER CLASS DISCUSSIONS AND TALKING ABOUT THE LATEST NEWS ARTICLE THAT CAME OUT ABOUT PREPAREDNESS, DISCUSSING HOW EVERYONE REACTS DIFFERENTLY IN STRESSFUL SITUATIONS, OR JUST SHARING STORIES. IT’S ALL EXTREMELY HELPFUL AND THE IDEAL LEARNING ENVIRONMENT. THE COMMUNICATION ASPECT IS NOT SOMETHING THAT I EXPECTED WHEN SIGNING UP FOR A SELF DEFENSE CLASS. I CAN’T IMAGINE EVER TAKING A CLASS WITHOUT IT.
I LOVE THE FACT THAT IT’S ALL ABOUT MUSCLE MEMORY. IT’S NOT WEIRD MOVES THAT YOU HAVE TO MEMORIZE OR BE ATHLETIC TO MAKE THEM EFFECTIVE. THE MOVES ARE KEPT SIMPLE BUT TIGHT AND THE INSTRUCTORS ARE CONSTANTLY TAKING TIME TO PERSONALLY HELP YOU MAKE SURE YOU ARE DOING IT CORRECTLY. THEY GENUINELY WANT TO EDUCATE EVERYONE ON HOW TO BETTER DEFEND THEMSELVES. WHETHER IT’S WALKING AROUND DURING CLASS GIVING INDIVIDUAL ATTENTION OR STAYING AFTER CLASS FOR AS LONG AS YOU WANT TO PRACTICE THE NEW SCENARIO SO YOU CAN REALLY MASTER IT… THEY ARE REALLY ENTHUSIASTIC EDUCATORS WHO CARE AND YOU CAN’T ASK FOR ANYTHING MORE WHEN TRYING TO LEARN SOMETHING NEW.”

“A FRIEND OF MINE SENT ME AN EMAIL EARLY IN AUGUST TELLING ME THAT A NEW BUSINESS HAD OPENED IN THE SHOPPING CENTER WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE OF MY HOUSE. I HAD BEEN WATCHING THE IMPROVEMENTS THAT SOMEONE HAD BEEN MAKING ON THE STRUCTURE BUT WASN’T AWARE THAT IT WAS COMPLETED AND OPENED. WELL, I CAN TRUTHFULLY STATE THAT THESE PAST FEW MONTHS HAVE CHANGED MY LIFE! I AM A PRETTY ACTIVE PERSON AND KEEP PRETTY BUSY WITH WORK AND OTHER ACTIVITIES BUT THIS TRAINING HAS GIVEN ME MORE CONFIDENCE AND AWARENESS THAN ANY OTHER PROGRAM THAT I HAVE PARTICIPATED IN.
THE CLASSES ARE VARIED AND OFFER A FULL RANGE OF FITNESS AND SELF DEFENSE TRAINING. THE CLASS TIMES ARE FLEXIBLE AND I CAN ATTEND WHENEVER MY BUSY SCHEDULE ALLOWS. OFTEN EITHER COLIN OR KAZ WILL HELP ME WITH MY FORM AND SUPPORT ME IN MY EFFORT.
I WILL TURN 70 IN JANUARY, 2013 BUT I NEVER FEEL LIKE THE TRAINING AND SCENARIOS ARE TOO OVERWHELMING FOR ME AND MY STAMINA. I AM STILL WORKING PART TIME AS A HAIR STYLIST AND HAVE RECOMMENDED THIS TRAINING TO MANY OF MY CLIENTS.

“I STARTED TAKING CLASSES AT TRAIN LIKE YOU MEAN IT BECAUSE I BOUGHT A GIVACAUSE CERTIFICATE ONLINE. I LITERALLY HAD NO IDEA WHAT I WAS GETTING MYSELF INTO. I HAD NO EXPECTATIONS & NO PERSONAL GOALS OTHER THAN A DESIRE TO TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT FOR FUN. I REMEMBER STARTING MY FIRST DAY ON A THURSDAY, THE FIT TO FIGHT CLASS, I REALLY ENJOYED IT. IT WAS A PERFECT WORKOUT, AND COLIN, THE INSTRUCTOR, MAKES YOU IN CHARGE OF HOW HARD YOU WANT YOUR WORKOUT TO BE, MILD, MEDIUM, OR SPICY! JUST KNOWING THAT I WAS IN CONTROL OF HOW HARD I WANTED IT TO BE MADE ME FEEL MORE CONFIDANT. I ENJOYED THAT CLASS SO CAME BACK THE NEXT DAY, FRIDAY, TO TRY PAD WORK. I ENJOYED THAT CLASS SO MUCH I SPENT MY WEEKEND LOOKING FORWARD TO MONDAY! I JUST KEEP COMING BACK AND EVERY MORNING I WAKE UP TAKE MY KIDS TO SCHOOL AND GO TO CLASS. THE MORE CLASSES I TAKE THE MORE FUN I KEEP HAVING. I TREAT THESE CLASSES AS MY ONE STANDING APPOINTMENT AND I RUN MY DAY AROUND MY CLASSES. AFTER 2 MONTHS OF TAKING THESE CLASSES I AM TONED IN PLACES ON MY BODY I WASN’T AWARE I COULD TONE. MY STOMACH GLOB I HAVE HAD SINCE HAVING 2 KIDS IS GONE. EVERY CLASS WHETHER FIT TO FIGHT OR HAGANAH, WE ARE ENGAGING OUR CORE MUSCLES CONSTANTLY. THE HAGANAH CLASSES ARE SO MUCH FUN IF I DIDN’T RUN MY OWN BUSINESS & HAVE A FAMILY TO TAKE CARE OF I WOULD BE TAKING CLASSES TWICE A DAY. NOT JUST FOR FITNESS BUT FOR REAL LIFE SELF DEFENSE.
FROM MY PERSPECTIVE, I AM A MOM DOING EVERYTHING I CAN TO PROTECT MY FAMILY. HAGANAH CLASS HAS GIVEN ME A HEIGHTENED AWARENESS OF MY SURROUNDINGS AT ALL TIMES, WHEN I AM OUTSIDE OF THE CLASSROOM. WHEN I FIRST STARTED THE CLASSES THERE WAS A LITTLE BIT OF AWKWARDNESS THAT IS FELT WITH JUST LEARNING THE BASIC COMBATIVE MOVES. EVERYTHING THAT WE WERE LEARNING STARTED TO MAKE SENSE AFTER A WEEK. LEARNING POINT OF REFERENCES, WEAK SPOTS ON THE BODY. THE BEST FEELING NOW IS MOVING THROUGH COMBATIVES AND NOT EVEN THINKING THROUGH WHAT I HAVE DONE. MUSCLE MEMORY IS TRULY AMAZING. PRACTICING SCENARIOS IS MY FAVORITE PART OF THE CLASS. YOU ARE PARTNERING UP WITH SOMEONE. WHEN I HAVE TAKEN ANY EXERCISE CLASS THAT INVOLVES PARTNERING, I AM NOT COMFORTABLE! HOWEVER, WHEN YOU ARE PARTNERING UP IN THIS CLASS AND LEARNING THESE LIFE SAVING TECHNIQUES, YOUR PRIVATE SPACE IS COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT. HERE YOU ARE THINKING YOUR ATTACKER COULD BE HEAVY, HAIRY, SMELLY TOOTHLESS CRAZY PERSON, BUT LUCKY ME, I GET TO PRACTICE BEING ATTACKED OR BEING A VICTIM TO A SHOWERED, DEODORANT WEARING, TOOTH-BRUSHING, AWESOME CLASSMATE! I LOVE PARTNERING UP WITH ANYONE IN CLASS. PRACTICING WITH DIFFERENT SIZES, ETC IS GREAT. SOMETIMES I’M PRACTICING WITH SOMEONE MUCH TALLER THAN ME OR SMALLER, IT ALL IS AWESOME PRACTICE. OUR INSTRUCTORS ARE ALWAYS ON TOP OF SAFETY AWARENESS, MAKING SURE EVERYONE IS PRACTICING SLOW & SAFE WHEN APPROPRIATE. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO EVERYONE THAT THEY TRY THIS CLASS. YOU WON’T BE SORRY!”
